ABOUT
Phillip Lehn is an independent filmmaker, writer, and actor based in North Carolina, with a passion for telling stories that leave something behind. A filmmaker who believes movies should be more than something to watch and forget, Phillip approaches his work from both sides of the camera — writing and directing stories while also understanding the vulnerability and craft that comes with performing them. His work is rooted in character, emotion, and the questions that linger after the credits roll, with a particular interest in stories about people, relationships, choices, and the moments that change us. Phillip also trained in Meisner Acting in Asheville, North Carolina, developing a deeper understanding of truthful, instinctive performance and bringing that philosophy into both his acting and directing.
As a filmmaker, Phillip has written, produced, directed, acted in, and edited his own independent feature projects, building films from the ground up and wearing nearly every hat along the way. He has written six books and counting, two of which he adapted from the page into award-winning independent feature films. His previous feature, The Next Chapter, found success on the festival circuit, earning recognition across multiple categories including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing. His acting has found its own humble success, including winning two consecutive Best Actor awards at the Greensboro 48 Hour Film Festival. His latest feature, Last Call, continues that evolution — an intimate story centered on grief, connection, and the importance of living in the moment. Phillip's filmmaking philosophy is simple: make films that matter. Whether the story is quiet and deeply personal or bigger and more cinematic, he wants audiences to feel something real.
Outside of filmmaking, Phillip is a writer at heart, constantly drawn to the intersection of storytelling, philosophy, faith, relationships, and the human experience. He sees filmmaking not simply as entertainment, but as a way to explore ideas that people may not otherwise stop to consider. From writing a book to adapting it into a screenplay, from stepping in front of the camera to directing a cast, and from building a production from the ground up to shaking hands with fellow filmmakers at a festival, Phillip is committed to creating meaningful work and continuing to grow with every project. At the center of it all is the same goal that has guided his work from the beginning: stories that matter.
